Utility Surveys
For utility surveying we work closely with agencies, owners, and engineers to meet the needs of the design team. We seek to understand the project design criteria so that we provide the data that is needed whether for a wind farm, waterline, or interceptor sewer.
Among the greatest challenges of utility route surveying are the varied ownership of property and the often-difficult terrain that must be mapped. Utility lines may impact both public right of way and private lands with limited access. They may cross freeways, rivers, or railroads, and pass through wetland, wooded, and urban areas. Westlake surveyors tackle such challenges on a daily basis. For longer utility corridors, careful planning and consistent quality control are keys to establishing a survey control network that ties all data together.
